Lake Mildred/Clear Lake
—On April 20th Onterra presented the results of the lake management survey tothe planning committee. The Board decided to not pay for “Living on the Edge” so it won’t be included intheir education packet. Connie brought along copies of the Association newsletter and calendar and a tumbler they offer as a fundraiser. The calendar uses pictures from Lake Mildred that are very high quality. LakeMildred is participating with a new program called “Kids Don’t Float”. Child sized personal flotation deviceswill be available for free loan at the boat landing. The users are expected to return them to the kiosk whenleaving the lake. A news release on the program is can be seen athttp://dnr.wi.gov/news/DNRNews_Article_Lookup.asp?id=2065 . Connie also mentioned the Lake Mildredwebsite atwww.lakemildred.com/. b.
The Education Packets are being assembled. The Association annual meeting is setfor June 20
Two Sisters Lake—
A review of the DNR’s online lake data system found Two Sisters Lake listed in themesotrophic category. A closer look found that a phosphorus sample collected near the lake bottom was usedto calculate the rating. The bottom water sample had 10 times more phosphorus than near-surface readingsand is not appropriate to use as a water quality indicator. The error was corrected and Two Sisters is again inthe oligotrophic water quality category.5. Discussion regarding the Education Packets was continued. Scott will order “Living on the Edge”. Scott is alsocontinuing work on the Town history. It is up to 15 pages and the cost of printing is a concern. Distribution on a CDor DVD may be a cost effective alternative.6. The Rapid Response Pamphlet is still being drafted. Distribution to all Newbold property owners with tax billswill require 3500 copies which causes concern for printing cost. The possibility of obtaining a grant for printing wasdiscussed.7. Bill reported that the Oneida County Lakes and Rivers Association is having their annual meeting at NicoletCollege on June 15. Keynote speaker, Dr. Ben Beardmore, will discuss the “Impacts of Lake Protection Efforts onProperty Values” as well as how to establish, train and implement aquatic invasive species early detection andmonitoring teams for lakes. OCLARA is looking for two new volunteer board members and it would be good to havemore lake associations involved with the organization.8. On a motion by Paul Kuhn and a second by Connie Muckelberg the meeting was adjourned at 6:47 pm. Thenext meeting will be on June 19, 2012 at 5:30 pm.Respectfully submitted,
