Who doesn't
love
a good pirate game? The trouble is that there aren't any. There I said it.But that's not to say there aren't some with their flaws! The following is a list and brief descriptions of some of the games we tried. In no particular order.

Descriptions
Voyage Century Online -Classic Korean MMORPG with a pirate theme. In theory one can travel from the Mediterraneanto the Americas, the map is huge but the players are sparse. The main feature of this game is shipcombat, its played in real time and customization adds a nice flare because you can choose your cannons and mix match arcs of fire which produces stragety. For example a howitzer can giveyou distance but in close range you won't be able to engage. One may also take time to level their  personal combat abilities, and become a merchant, improve their skills, farm etc.Pirates of the Burning Sea -Basically every other MMORPG you've ever played but with highly customizable piratecharacters! Combat is in real time but lacking because of the game's nature, expect a monthly fee but if you enjoyed World of Warcraft and you enjoy pirates, by all means.
 
Anno 1701 -More Columbus than pirates, this game is a mix of Sim City and RTS. It has a complexeconomic system and piracy is always fun.Sid Meier's Pirates! -A single player pirate experienceTropico 2 -A Sim City or Ceasor style pirate game, you have your island and pirates live on it, keep themhappy.Pirates of the Carribean Online -Its laggy, 3D and set in the POTC universe, you level up and explore, charactor customization isweak and it contains a monthly fee, however you can play a limited version of the game for free.Dogs of the Seas Pirates at War -A java based game, a step up from those silly html RPGs. You have your little port and you can produce things sail around etc, not exactly visually pleasing but decent for what it is, registrationtakes less than a minute and you don't even need a real email address.Battlefield Pirates -A full conversion modification for Battlefield 1942. Undead and Peglegs battle for control points, choose from different class that provide different abilities and battle on both land and sea.The multiplayer aspect is past its prime, we suggest getting a lot of friends together and playing.Battlefield Pirates 2 -The updated modification for Battlefield 2.Pirates Vikings & Knights II -A Half Life 2 modification still in the works, a recent release has made it unbalanced but it's agood bit of fun. Although the time period is strange, it's worth trying if you've got the chance.

You are forgetting one game and that is an online game actually, called World of Pirates http://worldofpirates.4players.de/***/script/home_en.html I was playing it for a while but got busy and haven't gotten myself to go back in it again.
