Revelations this week that theRepublican Party platform wouldinclude strong opposition to same-sex marriage and an endorsement of the Federal Marriage Amendment hasrenewed debate over whether LogCabin Republicans should withholdits endorsement of presumptive GOPpresidential nominee Mitt Romneybecause of the anti-gay language.This week, 112 members of theRepublican Party approved platformlanguage that afﬁrms marriage asbetween one man, one woman;criticizes judges for “court-orderedredeﬁnition of marriage”; attacks theObama administration for no longerdefending the Defense of MarriageAct; and endorses a Federal MarriageAmendment. Buzzfeed revealedthe draft language on marriage ina report on Monday and quotedTony Perkins, president of the FamilyResearch Council, as taking credit forwriting the marriage language.

Corkins faces chargesafter Family ResearchCouncil attack

Floyd Lee Corkins II, 28, a former part-time volunteer for D.C.’s LGBT communitycenter, is scheduled to appear in court fora joint preliminary and detention hearingtoday, following last week’s shooting at theFamily Research Council headquarters.
