Do you have a bike that is broken, old or no longer needed? Dont have the time or energy to take it to a charity shop? We can help!
Brake the Cycle is a recycling project which takes old and unwanted bikes and renovates them. The bikes are then given away for free to community organisations, youth groups, other interested organisations and children. The project works with offenders on Community Payback Orders, who are shown how to fix the bikes. Bikes which cannot be fixed will be stripped for parts and scrap metal. By donating your unwanted or broken bike, you can help to reduce waste (and maybe make some room in your garden shed!). Youll also be helping to promote healthier lifestyles and environmentally-friendly travel in Edinburgh. The Brake the Cycle team will even collect your bike for free and take it to one of our workshops.
