The Picnic is a story of a dog and a bird who meet in a city park and fall in love. It is a tale of a love that spans the unending cycle of the seasons. First inspired by Japanese Anime, The Picnic features high-energy movement and highly charged visual landscapes. Performances are free, but reservations are requested. Please call Off Leash Area at 612-724-7372 to make a reservation.

LITTLE MIRACLES AT THE BIG DIPPER RYAN PUSCH + BEN MERRILL 2021 31ST AVE. S. SATURDAY: 4-10PM
4-10pm: Constellation of Curiosities including a blindfolded olfactory salad bar and after dark art show. This event gives artists a chance to display all of the alien relics they have in their junk drawers. Asteroid dust and rattlesnake dentures and such. What mysteries will be revealed is still a partial mystery. 6pm: A walk to White Sands beach on the Mississippi to see the sun go down and have guided meditation. This event will focus on the experience of being in nature and its effect on health 7pm: A film in the yard. This event will delve into the film representation of individual experience of landscapes both geographic and aural.

Relax with others in an outdoor neighborhood settingfree acupuncture for all, treating pain, stress, and more. A site to learn + collaborate around fermentation with collaborative zine-making, a craft table, simple fermented food shares+ food samples. A meal will be prepared using fermented foods for twenty people (ten seats can be reserved in advance, and ten will be available to reserve the day of.) The meal is an opportunity to feast on delicious food together + have an extended dialogue on how food can ferment political and social change. Because food is a way to build community + to ensure accessibility, the meal will be free with a suggested donation to offset the cost. The Phillips West Sign Shop is a municipal sign making workshop. Neighborhood residents will be able to create a sign with their name, much like cabin name signs found in Northern Minnesota. Personalization is encouraged and facilitated by sign shop staff. Visitors to the sign shop will also have the opportunity to learn about the Phillips West Neighborhood Organization and resources that are available to residents. The finished signs will be installed during the fall on various poles located throughout the neighborhood. In the fall, residents will be able to collect their signs at a final event.

Participate in a hands-on community art project. Ema are small wooden plaques that Shinto worshippers write prayers or wishes on + hang at the shrine where kami spirits or gods receive them. The Ema are organically grouped by the community + accumulate into a creation every family member of the community is involved with. Julia + April will be making their own version of Ema in their front yard. They invite the community to come + make Ema with them.

Visit the Street Stories Lemonade/Story Stand where you can receive a refreshing beverage + a personal record. Tell one of your favorite stories and it will be recorded + passed along to you as a keepsake for the ages! Maybe you dont have a story but you want to capture the voices of you and your loved ones, or maybe you want to tell someone something + have it on the record. Or maybe youre just thirsty. It doesnt matter! Stop by + say hello. Also, participate in Street Stories story map, where we mark down your favorite stories in the city!

EKPHRASTIC AND FANTASTIC LYNETTE REINI-GRANDELL + VENUS DEMARS 3412 PORTLAND AVE. S. Carriage house off of alley SATURDAY: 11AM-3PM, SUNDAY: 1PM-5PM
The Carriage House will host a show of paintings + drawings by Venus DeMars + encourage visitors who wish to participate to use writing prompts to write their own creative work based on their experiences with the art + the space. (Ekphrastic writing is prose or poetry inspired by visual art.) Visitors may be invited to read their work aloud to an audience. Members of the Bosso Poetry Company will also perform their poetry and music in the space.

A bike and pedestrian focused event that will bring mobile karaoke to the streets and bike paths of Minneapolis. The RRSS will operate from a self-contained mobile karaoke system pulled behind a bicycle. BACKYARD PLANTS, PRINTS + QUILTS HANNAH BENNETT + TERESE ELHARD 3311 ELLIOT AVE. S. SUNDAY: 12PM-6PM
Artists Hannah Bennett + Terese Elhard will use the plants growing in their back yard to create functional art work. Terese will show the process of using plants as a stencil for making nature-based prints on both textiles and paper. Hannah will then integrate these materials into a series of small quilts.
