educationprogram which

focus on institutional programs and procedures to
meet
thereproposed APHIS requirements for dogs,
cats
and nonhuman primates.The workshop
is
open to institutional administrators, members of animal
care
and use committees, laboratory animal veterinarians, investigators and other
institutional
staff
who have responsibility for high-quality management
of
sound institutional animal
care
and use programs.

INTRODUCTIONThe Animal Resources Program (ARP) of the National Center for ResearchResources
(NCRR),
National Institutes of Health
(NIH),
assists
institutions
in
developing and improving animal resources for biomedical research and researchtraining through the award of research and resource grants. This documentrelates to institutional animal resource improvement projects. These projects
will
be supported with funds anticipated to be made available to theDepartment
of
Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Fiscal
Year
1991
for
thisactivity
.

will
be issued
later
in calendar year
1990
for

program related to animal facility improvement support for small researchinstitutions receiving
