SHOOTING-APPARENT HOMICIDE On August 29th, Wednesday evening, shortly after 11:00 p.m., the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to 3853 Camelot Dr. S.E. on the report of gunshots that were heard in the area. Officers arrived and located a male in his twenties lying in an area of landscaping adjacent to a parking lot for residents. The victim was not conscious at this time. Medical units arrived and could not revive the victim. He died at the scene. The victims identity has not been confirmed at this time. His name will be withheld until positive identification is made. A bystander told officers that a male in dark clothing was initially seen approaching from between the buildings. The suspect continued and produced a handgun. The suspect then walked directly to the victim and shot him. The suspect fled the scene on foot. The Grand Rapids Police Department Major Case Team is investigating.
