Are you a mobile phone user?Did you know 8 out of 10people carry no next of kindetails? The In-case of EmergencyCampaign (ICE) encouragespeople to store next of kindetails under ICE 1, ICE 2 etc.In an emergency, the emer-gency services can look underthe contact in your mobilephone and find the details of your next of kin or whoeveryou would want to be con-tacted under ICE.It is a very simple yet veryeffective step to ensure thatyour next of kin / emergencycontact can be contacted andthey can then provide theemergency services with anyinformation which may beneeded to care for you effec-tively.Sometimes a lack of vital in-formation can result in a delayin getting the right treatment. The scheme started in EastAnglia but can be used any-where in the country and isnot restricted to any particu-lar mobile phone network. Please follow this advice andput an ICE number into yourmobile. Why not do this now?if people book further aheadthan this then more appoint-This is the name we give topatients who do not attendtheir appointments. Each day some appointmentsare wasted because people donot attend. In December 110 patients didnot attend booked appoint-ments this is equivalent tomore than 5 doctor or nursesurgeries or one doctor for 2and a half days.We allow booking up to 2weeks ahead as we have foundments are wasted. Howeverwe do have some appoint-ments which patients fail toattend that they have bookedon the same day.We will be publishing our DidNot Attend numbers on thewaiting room plasma screens. Please let us know if you can-not make your appointment.
