Felix Hernandez thrilled ans on August 15 withthe Mariners frst perect  game. He was dominant as he struck out 12 inhis 1-0 gem against theTampa Bay Rays. At 26 years, 129 days, Felix became theyoungest pitcher to throw a perectgame since Mike Witt (24.072) in 1984.The perect game produced a game score (Bill James stat calculating a pitcher’sdominance) o 99…it was the 9th time in the DH era that an AL pitcher recordedscore that high in a 9-inning game, and the 4th-highest in any perect game.Felix recorded 12 strikeouts in the perect game, the 4th-most ina perect game trailing 14 by Sandy Kouax (1965) and MattCain (2012) and 13 by Randy Johnson (2004)…itwas the 4th game this season in which Felixstruck out 12+ batters, ater enteringthe 2012 season with our 12+strikeout games in his career.The 1-0 victory marked Felix’s third1-0 shutout o the season (thru Aug.15), setting a Mariners single-seasonrecord and tying the Mariners careerrecord…he became the rst pitchersince Bob Ojeda (NYM) in 1988 torecord a trio o 1-0 shutouts.
