1 Word Battle Game board for each studentSpelling or sight word listPencil
Players sit across from each other in a position where they cannot see each other’s game board. Both players fill in their owngame board with 6-8 words. Words can be placed both verticaland horizontal.Once the words are filled in, play can begin.The first player calls out a coordinate. Ex. (4,B)Player 2 tells them if they hit a letter or not. If the letter is “hit” play continues until the student either guesses the word ormisses a letter. If a word is guessed the player needs to say “Youhave sunk my ______” When a word is sunk it needs to bemarked off of their list.It is then player 2’s turn to guess a coordinate.Each player needs to keep track of their “misses” on their oppo-nents side of the board.Play continues until all words are sunk on one board.The first player to sink all the words wins the game.
