miles

maned
head.

giant
met
its
death
at
the
hands

two
greatwarriors,
Pilla
andInda,
who
ittacked
it
while
itwas
sleeping,
but
fieir
spear-points
immediatelybecame
Hunt.
Quarrellingbetweenthemselvesbecause
?/this,
Pilla
stabbedInda
in
many
places,
indinda
inreturn,
struck
Pilla
a
severe
tlow
on
the
nose.

Finallyreconciled,the
two
mencom-
pleted
thcworkof
killing
the
monster.

Thentheymade
a
great
feast.
Greasing
themselveswith
the
'fat',
theyreturnedhome
to
a
rejoicingpeople.
These
two
heroes
were
later
changed
intotheopossum
(Pilla)
andthe
native
cat
(Inda).
They
still
retain
the
scars
of
their
dreadfulbattle-the
furrow
down
the
nose
of
theopossum,
and
the
white
spots
of
thenative
cat.
