The Office of Independent Review, led by chief attorney Michael Gennaco, released a nearly 200-page report on Sept. 6, 2012 with 32 recommendations for the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. Among those were making sure that use-of-force investigations be thorough and accurate, and that deputies accused of abuse are not present during questioning of their alleged victims.
