Thanks for checking out ICPA’s first e-newsletter! We have spent considerabletime this past year looking at ways wecan better serve our members, and allstudent affairs professionals, in the stateof Illinois. We have begun by increasingcommunication with our members. I hopeyou have joined our Facebook group, whichis open to members and non-members alike.We want our this group to be the placewhere ICPA members can share items of interest, keep in touch, and post photos of great stuff happening around the state. Wehave also launched this periodic newsletter to pass on ACPA announcements, highlightindividuals who deserve a spotlight, tell youabout ways to get involved with ICPA, andhow the organization can serve you.I will be attending ACPA in Boston, andlook forward to hearing about the finalreport from the Joint Task Force on theFuture of Student Affairs. In addition, Iknow the potential unification of ACPAand NASPA will be on the agenda duringleadership meetings and at the conference.Since so many of us in Illinois will beunable to attend the conference due to budget cuts and travel freezes, I wantto do my best to share the thoughts of professionals in the state. ICPA elections are coming up at the end of April! We will be accepting nominations for the following positions: President-Elect, Director of Records and Recognition, Director of CommunicationsIf you have any questions, please contact Election Co-Chairs Sarah Manzeske at firstname.lastname@example.org or Jennifer Bonarek at Jennifer.email@example.com.
Lastly, we are planning some newinitiatives. We are producing more podcasts,and looking into the possibility of hostingwebinars as a way to offer professionaldevelopment opportunities regardlessof budget. We are also in the first stagesof planning a drive-in conference nextspring. If you think you may be interestedin helping with the drive-in, have topicsyou think we should cover, or would liketo suggest presenters, please email Mark Cabonara, Director of Events, who iscoordinating the planning process.
