For the next 40 days, after His resurrection from the dead,Jesus walked among His disciples, encouraging their hearts andexplaining details of their mission now that He would beleaving them. And on the fortieth day, just before returning toHeaven, He told the disciples to return to Jerusalem, saying,
“Wait for the promise of the Father,
until you are strengthenedwith power from on High! You will receive power after theHoly Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My
witnesses!”
Durante los 40 días posteriores a Su resurrección de losmuertos, Jesús anduvo entre Sus discípulos, levantándoles el ánimo y explicándoles detalles de la misión que habrían derealizar una vez que El se marchase. En el día 40, momentosantes de ascender al Cielo, dijo a Sus discípulos que retornasena Jerusalén, "¡No se vayan a ningún otro lado, hasta quereciban el poder que Dios les enviará! ¡Porque recibirán poder cuando haya venido sobre ustedes el Espíritu Santo, y meserán testigos!"
The Apostles returned to Jerusalem, andwith well over 120 other disciples, stayed alltogether in an upper room praying and
waiting in obedience to Jesus’ last
command.Ten days later an awesome manifestation
of God’s power occurred: “A sound like the
rushing of a mighty wind filled the wholehouse where they were, and they saw theappearance of many tongues of fire thatrested upon every one of them. And they all
were filled with the Holy Spirit!”
Los apóstoles regresaron a Jerusalén y sehospedaron todos en un aposento alto,donde estuvieron orando y aguardando, para obedecer el último mandato que les dio Jesús antes de Su ascensión. Al cabo de diez días se produjo unaimpresionante manifestación del poder deDios: "Un estruendo como de un viento recioque soplaba llenó toda la casa dondeestaban; y se les aparecieron muchaslenguas de fuego que se colocaron sobrecada uno de ellos. ¡Y fueron todos llenos del
Espíritu Santo!”
There was a great religious festival going on in thestreets of Jerusalem at that time, and visitors frommany foreign nations had come for the annualcelebration. When the disciples stepped into thestreets, they all supernaturally began to speak inthe languages of the multitudes visiting Jerusalemthat day, yet none of the disciples had ever knownbefore how to speak those languages! Thedisciples boldly witnessed to all of the crowds
about the wonderful news of God’s Love in Jesus.
As a result, about 3,000 people received salvation.
Por aquellos días se celebraba en las calles de Jerusalén una importante fiesta religiosa, para laque habían venido visitantes de muchos otros países. Cuando aquellos 120 discípulos pusieron pie en las calles de la ciudad, sobrenaturalmentetodos empezaron a hablar en los idiomas de lasmultitudes que ese día visitaban Jerusalén, ¡pese aque ninguno de ellos había aprendido jamás ahablar esas lenguas! Así, con gran valor, dierontestimonio ante toda aquella gente de lasmaravillosas nuevas del Amor de Diosmanifestado en Jesús. En consecuencia, 3.000 personas recibieron la salvación.
