pecial Sections like FallFashion can’t happenwithout a fair amount of help: community support, volunteer models, willing retailersand most importantly, advertisingdollars. Since joining the team atWednesday Journal Publications Ihave been amazed at the communitypartnerships that develop and thrivebecause of local journalism. Theability to be creative, and developthose significant relationships is allfueled by advertising dollars. Please support our advertisers, retailers, and organizations thathelped make this section a success.Advertisers:Oak Park Jewelers, Oak ParkTen Thousand Villages, Oak ParkMuse, Oak ParkCamille Et Famille, Forest ParkThe Jewelry Studio/The GoldHatpin, Oak ParkTeam Blonde, Forest ParkMarion St. Cheese Market, Oak ParkFiloni, Oak ParkCraig’s Shoes, BerwynJames Anthony Salon & Spa,River ForestYork Furrier, ElmhurstArcade Jewelers, RiversideSalon 212, Oak ParkSugarCup Trading, Oak Park
Much thanks to our Oak Park Public Librarystaff for the extended use of the Maze LibraryBranch. The decorations from the summerreading program made our children’s fashionfeature look hip and “spot on” in terms of trend. The walkway and gardens were beautiful on theday of the photo shoot. I’m sure we need to thanka buildings and grounds manager someplace forthe splendor.A change in the weather on one of our photoshoot days meant that we had to scramble lastminute to find a new location. Our own PleasantHome, a historic property of the Park Districtof Oak Park, was a fantastic last minute choice. The Pleasant Home Foundation staff was quickto say yes to our last minute request. And thelighting was perfect for a porch photoshoot. Thanks so much.Another round of applause goes tothe Murphy’s for letting us park ourhomecoming-themed photo sessionright at Poor Phil’s in their outdoorseating area. I’m not sure if knowingthem for most of my life is the reasonthey said yes, or if it’s just that theylove the Wednesday Journal, buttheir willingness to take part is muchappreciated.Retailers:So many retailers were willingto let us “borrow” items for thisfashion feature. We couldn’t featureall willing retailers simply becauseof time constraints. My sincereapologies to folks we didn’t reach. This is not an easy thing to say yesto: Retailers say goodbye to expensiveproduct for up to a week, hoping thatwe are responsible enough to bringall items back brand new. Thanks to these retailers forparticipating (in no particular order):Geppetto’s Toy Box, Oak ParkO’Joy Consignment, Oak ParkThe Gap, Oak ParkModest, Forest ParkMuse, Oak Parkdeedee & edee, Forest ParkCamille et Famille, Forest ParkMadison St Shoes, Forest ParkTeam Blonde, Forest ParkCareful Peach, Oak ParkSugarCup Trading, Oak ParkTakara, Oak ParkShoe Soko, Oak ParkNorah’s Shoes, Oak ParkSanem’s, Oak ParkOak Park Jewelers, Oak ParkTrends, Oak ParkGem, Oak ParkYork Furrier, ElmhurstGallery Etc., Forest Park (Jeanine Guncheon)Diana Shoes, Oak ParkFiloni, Oak ParkEffigy Salon, Oak Park1148 Cosmetics, Oak ParkTwo Girls Gems, River ForestGreen Home Experts, Oak Park
Finally, but not least of all, a major thanksneeds to go to the staff at Effigy Salon andJen at 1148 Cosmetics. It’s just not fashion if our models don’t look perfectly coiffed. Andwe really couldn’t have done this without thevolunteer hours involved from these folks. Oneach photo shoot day it felt like we invadedEffigy - and they were always wonderful, courteous, professional and talented.
