INTRODUCTION
l.
This
action
exposesthe
continuing
demise
ofjournalistic
integrity
as
more
and
moreonline
publications,purporting
to be
serious
newsoutlets,
race
to
be
the
first
topost
online
sensational and
inflammatory
articles
without
the
requisite
researchand
with
total
disregard
for the
truth.
Some
reporters
and
publications,in
a
rush to
"scoop"
the story,team up
with
and
rely
upon
highly
questionable"sources"
without
anyreal
investigation.
Couple
this
with
an
unscrupulous,dishonest
individual with
an
axto
grind
and
you
havethe
perfect
poison.
So
it
is
here.
TheWrap
facilitated
a
fraudulent
act
of
revenge
by
Raul
Julia-Levy,
u
T*
with
a
well-publicized
and
lengthy
history
ofmaking
false
statements
to
the
police
and
in
legalproceedings,
in
an
attemptto wreak
havoc
on Etisabeth
Thieriot's
life.
Ms.
Thieriot
is
a
well-respected
philanthropist,
author
and
ex-wifeof
the
former
publisher
of
TheSan
Francisco
Chionicle.
Relyingsolely
on
Julia-Levy
anddocumentsbased
on claims
made
by Julia-Levy,
and
despite
information
totally
annihilatingJulia-
Levy'scredibility,
TheWrapthrewcautionto
the
wind
in its
reckless
pursuitfor
more hitson its
website.In doing
so,
TheWrap
has
perverted
the
truth
about
Julia-Levy's
fraud
on
Ms.
Thieriot
and
hisattemptto
hijack
a
veryimportant
film
project,whichMs.
Thieriot
financed,aboutMayan
findings
and
artifacts(the
"Documentary").
TheWrap
has
portrayedMs.
Thieriot
as
the
villain
even
though
she
is,in
fact,the
victim
ofJulia-Levy's
fraud.
This
perversionnot
only
defames
and
severely
damages
a
respected,
innocent
anddecent
human
being
it
creates
a
fraudon
the
public.
Indeed,
since
the
ill-advisd
posting
and
as
clearly
foreseeable,severalothermediaoutlets
have
re-publishedthe
article
with
clearly
even less
investigation
than The
Wrap.
This
has
just
distortedthe
factseven
more.
Now,
the
headlines,
in
the
United
States,
Mexico
and
around
the
world,
read
thatMs.
Thieriot
is
"wanted"
in
Mexico
and
conveythat
she
is
a
criminal
on
the
run.
Theseseriousaccusations
are
completely
false.
This
recklessness
must
be
stopped
andthe
perpetratorsmust
be
heldresponsible.
