September 13, 2012 Seattle City Council PO Box 34025 Seattle, WA 98124 Dear Councilmembers, As the King County councilmembers who worked together to develop and support an amended set of arena agreements approved by King County, we are pleased to see efforts to bring the SuperSonics back to Seattle moving forward. We thank you for your hard work on this issue. Over the next few weeks, the County Council will fully review the Citys proposed changes to the arena MOU and ILA. As you know, the Citys proposal would potentially require King County to take on a larger financial obligation than previously approved. This component of your proposal will be a major focus of our review in the coming weeks as we ensure that we make a sound financial decision on behalf of the King County taxpayers we represent. We anticipate calling a workgroup together comprised of representatives from the County, the City and ArenaCo sometime in the next two weeks to discuss the financial components of the proposal and other significant changes from the agreements that King County adopted. By working together, we are hopeful that this workgroup will help us resolve the concerns of our respective jurisdictions. Given the current timeline for City Council action, it is our hope the County Council will act on a final set of agreements by early October.
