Abstract
The extracted juice, steam extraction and 95% ethanol extraction of 24 medicinal herbs were studied for
their antimicrobial activities against two strains of food pathogens, Staphylococcus aureus TISTR 029 and
Salmonella typhimurium TISTR 292. It was found that steam extraction of Ka-yaeng (Limnophila aromatica Merr.)
showed highest antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus TISTR 029. It was showed 9.5 mm.
diameter of clear zone sized after 24 h. of incubation time. Extracted juice of Lead Tree (Leucaena leucocephala
(Lam.) de Wit.), 95% ethanol extraction of Pakchoi (Brassica chinensis L.) and leaf of Vegetable Humming Bird
(Sesbania grandiflora (L.) Deav.) showed highest antimicrobial activities against Salmonella typhimurium TISTR
292. Each was showed 8.0 mm. of clear zone sized after 24 h. of incubation time.
