How do you measure the quality o your training or teachers and sta in technology, or anythingelse?
I’ve always elt a quality learning experience or educators targets their needs, their sched-ules, the constraints o access and also afordability.
I rst shared many o the ideas you will learnabout in a session at the 2008 National Educational Computing Conerence (NECC) in San Antonio.Tere I heard rom many trainers and sta developers rom districts our size, and larger. Our answeror meeting the needs o educators today with new, emerging tools can be summarized in these ourareas:
• Multiple opportunities,• Multiple modes of engagement,• Tailored goals, and• Vision looking ahead.Goochland County Public Schools is a small, rural school division in Virginia where ve schools oer
220 teachers and 2500 students an environment to learn with technology. Each teacher is providedwith a take-home laptop and in the schools, we use desktop and laptop computers to oer a 2:1 stu-dent to computer ratio.
Tis presentation details what we do in Goochland to provide high quality proessional development with instructional technology through a variety o means.
