Judge Nash
Regarding Paul Chapel Sentencing
September 20, 2012To the Honorable Judge Nash:Mr. Chapel has badly hurt my ten year old daughter and my entire family. Since he committedthese terrible crimes, my daughter has had trouble sleeping at night. She has nightmares and shecries a lot. Mr. Chapel
took my daughter’s innocence
. She is constantly afraid, especially of men, thinking someone else will hurt her like Mr. Chapel did. My daughter used to be happygoing to school and playing with other children there. B
ut now she’s scared and nervous. She
used to trust her teachers and the people at school. She
doesn’t
trust them anymore. She
doesn’t trust people at all. She was supposed to be safe at school,
with Mr. Chapel as her
teacher, but she wasn’t safe.
Mr. Chapel was the danger and he hurt my daughter in a way shecan never fully recover from.Mr. Chape
l’s crime has left us with deep wo
rries about school. We worry about whether thiswill ever happen to our daughter again. We worry about how this will change our daughter inthe future. We wonder if she will ever recover from what Mr. Chapel did to her. Mr. Chapelhas
hurt my daughter’s childhood and
has put unfair stress and worry on my family. Now, all
we can do is hope and pray that one day she gets better. It’s hard to imagine she ever will.
Mr. Chapel should not have been able to commit such terrible crimes like this anywhere, andespecially not where my daughter was supposed to be safe. The emotional impact of his crimeswill be felt for years to come. I believe Mr. Chapel needs to spend the rest of his life in prison forhis crimes. My daughter should never have to worry about seeing him again. None of hisvictims should. Mr. Chapel should never get the chance to hurt any other child ever again.Very truly yours,Anna, Mother of Z, victim
