WORKSHOPEUROPEAN SMEs AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE
According to the Europe 2020 flagship Communication on an Integrated Industrial Policyand the review of the Small Business Act, supporting the internationalization process of the European SMEs is crucial to promote EU competitiveness. However,a very small percentage of SMEs is active beyond the Single Market, notwithstandingrapidly growing market opportunities abroad. The two key questions in the Workshop were : (1) what are the best policies supportingSMEs in accessing third markets and (2) is a better coordination between national andEU-level initiatives needed, and if so, how to accomplish this. The INTA Committee hadrequested the organization of the Workshop in order to explore proposals forimplementing new strategies to improve the internationalization process.
