Tau Sensor Tower Conversion
Posted by zorconat 4:01 AM  Here is my attempt at scratch building a unit of Tau Sensor Towers. The actual models are fromForge World, and the rules appear in Imperial Armour Volume Three: The Taros Campaign.  My first stumbling block was getting over the destruction of a few lego pieces to make thesetowers... something that i found to be challenging. Once I conquered that, I was able to proceed. The base of the tower is an upside down medicine bottle with a Lego core. The top half iscomprised on some bases, a few tech bits from a Power Plant Set model kit by Pegasus Hobbiesand some plastic tubing. Here are 3 complete models with a few minis for size comparison.

Here is my attempt at a scratch built version of a unit of  Forge World's Tau Sentry Turrets.  Rules can be found in Imperial Armour Volume Three: The Taros Campaign.  Just like the Tau Sentry Turrets I built <here>,these are made with a handful of lego pieces and a prescription medicine bottle. For this project, I also used some plasticard, plastic tubing, balsa wood, 2 sizes of googly eyes, a 40mm base, 2 25mm bases, and 2 small flying bases.I am still working out the weapon assembly. My first version is the white & yellow "T" in thepicture above. I don't like the way it fits so back to the drawing board. When complete, thetop will be magnetized to allow for the weapon assembly to be added/removed during game play. The weapon mounts are also magnetized to allow for different weapon options.

Here is a shot of the first tower completed sans weapons and weapon assembly (aka closed). When I'm finished, there will be a total of 4 towers in the unit.
