ns to mobilize young community change agents PHILADELPHIA-September 25, 2012- Finley Recreation Center Youth Advisory Council will host th its first event from 10am- 2pm at the Finley Recreation Center located at 1000 Horter Street. State Representative Cherelle Parker will give introductory remarks to the Students and Parents and Councilwoman Marian Tasco and State Representative Dwight Evans will be in attendance to give Closing Remarks. Youth who attend the Rally will be asked to identify topics and concerns that they feel strongly about in their community including Gang Violence, Health Education and Academic Support. They also will develop an action plan on how the Youth Advisory Council can work towards addressing these concerns throughout the 2012-2013 school year. Parents who attend will be able to receive information and gain access to programs by the Philadelphia Center for Arts and Technology, The Philadelphia School District, SCH Creative and Performing Arts, Wells Fargo and more. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided by the Finley Recreation Advisory Council and Epic Stakeholders will provide book bags and school supplies. About Finley Recreation Youth Advisory Council- The Finley Recreation Center Youth Advisory Council is a coalition of young people from across Northwest Philadelphia whose mission is to address needs such as stopping violence, academic and health education, cleaner environments and self-empowerment. The members of the council are young leaders and social change agents that seek to implement initiatives, support and establish programs to combat these issues. The Youth Advisory Council will meet regularly on the 2 nd Thursday of each month starting in October.
