Winter 2007APublication of the Pine Lake Country Club
We are looking forward to an outstandingyear in 2008 at Pine Lake. While we areconstantly reminded of the depressedeconomic environment in SoutheastMichigan, and while you face the chal-lenges in your own businesses, beassured that our COO Jim Farhat and thededicated Pine Lake Staff are committedto providing an environment, where weas members, can look forward to enjoy-ing our club each and every day.We can leave behind us everyday chal-lenges and enjoy the camaraderie, friend-ship, golf, dining, cocktails, pool, tennis, boating and social environment. How for-tunate we are. Pine Lake possesses greatcharacter - an expression of our member-ship, our staff, and our management team. Please welcome our new HeadProfessional, Paul Lehnert. Paul's enthu-siasm, energy and innovative thinking onbehalf of our golf program will be visiblethe moment the club re-opens. I'm suremany of you know that Paul's back-ground included eight years as APatTravis Pointe Country Club underMichael Areddy. Paul was awarded the2007 Assistant Professional of the Yearfor the Michigan Section. He brings withhim a firm background in customer serv-ice, merchandising, tournament opera-tions, teaching, and junior golf programs.I am also happy to announce that BillyBallew and Jeff Rachar will continuewith us this coming year to develop agreat golf professional team. Our committee activities form the back-bone of our club. Asincere thank you toall committee members and chairmenwho have served previously for theirefforts and leadership. I'm sure our newcommittee chairpersons are hard at work forming new and exciting strategies forthe New Year.John Shasky has assumed Chairmanshipof the Membership Committee withSteve Read's new position on the Board.Membership will be among the top chal-lenges for our Club. As Roger Loughranhas so eloquently emphasized, new mem-bers are everyone's responsibility. OurMembership Committee is committed tothe challenge of exceeding last year'sgreat results. Every member's involve-ment in this endeavor will be needed.Look for new, enjoyable and challengingevents for 2008 from our Golf Committeeand it's Chairman, Jeff Grant. It is notgoing to be "same-old-same-old". I think you will find the golf schedule interesting, challenging and worthy of your support. Finally, we are fortunate to have a dedi-cated hard working Board. These gentle-men you have elected to represent you, show up for every meeting, are conscien-tious regarding the issues of concern, andtry to make decisions in the best interestof Pine Lake. We always look forwardto hearing from you the members. Inthis regard, look for a Town Hall meetingin the Spring to go over fresh andexciting membership initiatives for thecoming year. The theme for this year is one of just"enjoying our Club". No major assess-ments are planned for the coming year.Your Club is financially stable and wellrun. I hope everyone enjoyed a fineChristmas season and I wish you andyour families a healthy and happy 2008.It is an honor for all to serve on theBoard and a special honor to serve asPresident.
