National Center forEducation StatisticsCOMMON CORE OF DATA: PUBLIC EDUCATION AGENCY UNIVERSE,1987-1988SUMMARY: This dataset contains records for each public elementaryand secondary education agency in the 50 states, District ofColumbia, and United States territories (American Samoa, Guam,Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Marshall Islands), asreported to the National Center for Education Statistics by thestate education agencies. Each record provides state and federalidentification numbers; agency's name, address, and telephonenumber; county name and FIPS code; agency type code; studentcounts; graduates and other completers counts; and other codes forselected characteristics of the agency. Information on grade spanand on the number of schools, classroom teachers, and staff is alsoincluded in most cases.UNIVERSE: All public elementary and secondary education agencies inthe 50 states, District of Columbia, and United States territories(American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and theMarshall Islands).NOTE: The codebook and data collection instrument are provided as aPortable Document Format (PDF) file.
