Antofagasta, September 24, 2012 Dear eighth graders, This letter/ handout is intended to assist you in the completion

of your portfolio for the 2012 edition of our schools Book Fair. You may include in your portfolio other papers, illustrations, etc.; however, the ones listed here are compulsory and will determine your portfolio grade, that will be shared by all the members of the team. I wish you success and enjoyment! As this will be your last presentation, I know you will put your heart in it, and show the visitors to the fair the great presenters you have come to be. Now, a word on the genre you chose: A saga is a work of fantasy fiction. Fantasy is a genre of fiction that uses magic and other supernatural phenomena as a primary element of plot, theme, or setting. In this years Book Fair portfolio on sagas, the following information needs to be presented, organized in the following papers: - A research report on the origin and evolution of sagas, - A list of all the book(s) contained in your saga, highlighting the one your team will be working on, - A reference card on this particular book, stating the place it occupies within the saga, when and where it was first published, in what language, etc. - A report on this book, where you should briefly refer to characters, setting, and plot, and - An authors page (information about the writer). - Finally, each member of the team will write a 120-180 review, FCE style (the portfolio will contain as many reviews as there are members in the team) Your portfolio should be neatly organized and it should open up with a presentation page, listing the names of the members of the team, title of the book, etc. It should also include a sketched drawing and a written description of the stand, as you visualize it. At the end, it should present a bibliography page, listing all the sources where you compiled the information contained in your portfolio. Best wishes, Ms. Olga Fraga
