Voting is your VOICE. Voting is your CHOICE Democratic way of electing your government To effect change in your community Voting is your right. It is your civic duty. Many people fought and died so you could have the right to vote

Who can vote?


You must be 18 or older You must be an American citizen: by birth or naturalization You must be registered to vote
BY MAIL: Applications must be postmarked no later than October 12th and received by a board of elections no later than October 17th IN PERSON: You may register in person at the board of elections up until October 26th.

How do I vote?
By secret ballot At your designated polling place Absentee voting *Some states have early voting. NYS is not one of them.

Voting at your polling place


When you arrive, there might be a line. Please wait. Do not leave until you have voted. When you enter the polling site, you will see tables and voting machines for one or more election districts At the table for your Election District you will be asked to sign next to a copy of your original signature on an alphabetically digitized poll list If you need assistance while voting, the law allows you to have a friend, relative, or an available election inspector assist you

Voting Absentee
Refer to copy of Absentee Ballot Application You can vote absentee if: See section one of Absentee Ballot Application Deadlines:
October 30: Last day to postmark an application or letter of application by mail for an absentee ballot. November 5: Last day to apply IN PERSON for absentee ballot November 5: Last day to mail/postmark ballot. Must be received by the local board of elections no later than Nov. 13th. Military Voter Ballots must be received no later than Nov. 19th November 6: Last day to deliver ballot IN-PERSON to the local board of elections (by someone other than the voter)

Election day: November 6, 2012 Polling location: Check your mail for Monroe County BOE notification Hours: 6 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Important: If you are still on line waiting to vote at 9:00 p.m., by law, you must be given the opportunity to vote, so dont leave. They should not turn you away.

Dates to Remember

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6. Polls open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m. Deadline for mailing your voter registration form is October 11. Deadline for registering in person at the BOE is October 26. Deadline for mailing absentee ballot APPLICATION is October 29. Deadline applying for absentee ballot APPLICATION in person is November 5. Deadline for mailing your absentee BALLOT is November 4. Deadline for delivering your Absentee BALLOT in person is November 6.
