MPD SECTOR 4 HIGHLIGHTS & UPDATES Below I have included Police Advisory information from Sector 2 of the 3rd PCT where rims and tires have been stolen off vehicles. We had two reported incidents in Sector 4 where the victim was victimized twice with the last incident taking place Thursday Sept. 13. It appears the vehicles that are being targeted are Chevys, Fords, Cadillac, Dodges, GMC 4x4 SUVs and all of thefts have happen between 9pm and 6am. Six thefts of vehicle tires and rims have been reported in three neighborhoods---Morris Park, Wenonah, and Page --since late August. A similar case was reported in Northrop in July.

The most recent theft took place between 10:30 pm Tuesday, Sept. 18, and 1:00 pm Sept. 19, on the 5500 block of 43rd Av S. in Morris Park.

Please keep eyes out for suspicious behavior where you may see individuals/car loitering in your neighborhood. There has been no suspect information or leads established at this time.

Tips on how to prevent home burglaries: Keep your doors locked at all timeseven when you are home. Check your windows to make sure they are secured. Basement windows may need additional reinforcement. For additional information about window security, go to: www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/police/crime-prevention/docs/WINSEC.pdf Be extra cautious about your neighborhood. Trust your instincts. Call 911 if you see anything suspicious. Talk to your neighbors about these incidents and ask them to be alert to suspicious activity. We need everyones help. If you dont have a block club or it has been inactive, now is the time to get active. When electronics or larger items are stolen, providing serial numbers of stolen items to the responding officers is important to help in the recovery of your items and in the prosecution of the suspect(s). What you can do now: o Take some time now and document the serial numbers of any valuables that have numbers on it. o Take pictures of your belongings. This would not only help in a criminal case but has helped a few residents filing insurance claims when they had a fire in their home. o Keep this list and photos somewhere safe, like your office or safe deposit box If you are a victim of burglary, report it immediately by calling 911. Inform the responding officers if you see something that may have been handled or left behind by the suspect (cigarette butt, pop can, etc.).
