********************************************** CITY COUNCIL MEMBER MIKE FAGAN SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT **********************************************
Spokane City Council Member Mike Fagan, District 1, is the target of a misleading flyer being distributed in Northeast Spokane, and he wants to set the record straight. Council Member Fagan states, When elected by the citizens in the City of Spokanes 1st District, I promised to represent the neighborhoods in my district and serve the community as a whole. The flyer that is being distributed is not only misleading, it is derogatory. The flyer, which is attached, references the planned closure of Fred Meyer on Francis Avenue and alludes to possible changes to the voluntary Alcohol Impact Area in the West Central Neighborhood. First of all, while unfortunate, the closing of Fred Meyer is due to the inability of the store and property owner to renegotiate a mutually agreeable lease, Council Member Fagan says. Second, as a representative of all the residents of Spokane, I do support the certainly support the overwhelming desire of the West Central Neighborhood to remove their voluntary Alcohol Impact Area designation. The Council Member adds, With every decision I make and every vote I take in regards to the city, I keep the citizens as my top priority. If anyone happens to receive one of these flyers and wants to discuss it, please contact me personally. -30-
