The book Unity in Diversity contains a scientific presentation of the Gaudiya paradigm of simultaneous oneness and difference with focus on its practical application, realization of transcendence and universal harmony.

It includes an introduction to Vedic science, evidence that the self is purely spiritual, ways of spiritual perception, establishment of Vedic evidence by Sri Jiva Goswami, an introduction to theism and full-fledged theism (Radha-Krishna-prema), insights into spiritual symbolism, a summary of Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s life and teachings, the practical application of Acintya-bhedabheda-darshan, and two special chapters devoted only to Sankirtana and Sri Guru.

It is written in relatively simple language and spiced with around 1000 quotes, 300 color images, 80 short stories and 30 diagrams and charts that help to make it easily digestable.

This book presents the universal principle ofsimultaneous oneness and difference inscientific, philosophical and spiritual ways. The human search for harmony and an all-embracing truth asks for universal unity. Atthe same time, individuality, freedom ofthought and respect for the cosmicdiversity are human values that require andcelebrate diversity. A most essentialquestion of humanity is therefore: How canunity and diversity exist together withoutrestricting each other? The answer is foundin a proper understanding of thephenomenon of unity. Unity means thatdifferent living beings and elements areunited in a common cause and purpose. This book shows that there already is anunderlying unity in the cosmic diversity – we just have to learn how to realize it.The cosmic unity in diversity is bestexplained by the principle of simultaneousoneness and difference, in Sanskrit called
Achintya-Bhedabheda
. This principle wasfirst described by Shri Chaitanya, thefounder of the Gaudiya Vedanta school ofthought. The book
Unity in Diversity
presentsthis universal principle and shows how itapplies to all fields of human action, including science, philosophy and religion.Despite conforming to academicstandards, this book is written in simplelanguage, allowing also the commonreader to have deeper insights into theprinciple of simultaneous oneness anddifference. A special feature of this book isthat it keeps a focus on the practicalapplication of this principle in our daily life, allowing us to actually participate in theunity of the cosmic diversity.

The author, Radhamadhav Das, studiedenvironmental science at the ETH (IT)Zurich and taught at colleges inSwitzerland. He studied Vedic scienceand philosophy in various schools andobtained PhD from Florida VedicCollege. He started to compile this bookin 2004 after receiving the followinginstruction from the Director of theBhaktivedanta Insititute, His HolinessBhaktisvarup Damodar Maharaj (Dr. T. D.Singh, 1937-2006):There is a great need to present theGaudiya Vedanta principle ofsimultaneous oneness and difference ina scientific way. This cosmic principleapplies to phenomena of both physicaland metaphysical dimensions. It is themost promising paradigm to resolve theconceptual problems faced by modernscience; it is the pinnacle of philosophyand it expresses the essence of religion.By its universal nature, this principle isable to connect and harmonize differentfields of human action like science, philosophy and religion. You know thisprinciple and you have studied scienceand philosophy. Try to scientificallypresent this principle for the benefit ofhumanity.”
