You will be asked to state your name and address and to sign both the Voter Registration Bookand the Authority Slip. You may bring along your voter registration card and/or your sampleballot. If you are a first time voter and registered by mail but did not provide your DriversLicense Number or the last four digits of your Social Security Number, you will be asked toprovide information.
Must I read and write English in order to register to vote?
No. You may register and even vote, whether or not you can read or write. In non Englishspeaking districts, provisions are made for ballots to be printed in Spanish.
How do I obtain a Vote By Mail Ballot?
The Election Official in your state can provide you with a Vote By Mail Ballot, allowing you toparticipate in the election by mail in the event you are unable to go to the designated voting siteon Election Day. If you will need a Vote By Mail Ballot, contact your Municipal Clerk orCounty Clerk for a Vote By Mail Application.

Do I have to choose a political party in order to register and to vote?
Not in a General or School Board election. However, to vote in the Primary Election you mustdeclare a particular party.
How do I join a political party?
By voting in a Primary Election, or by filling out the Party Affiliation portion of the VoterRegistration Form; which can be obtained at the office of the Municipal Clerk. It will then bemailed to the Superintendent of Elections.
If I declare a preference when I register, can I change later?
Yes, simply fill out the appropriate portions of a Voter Registration Form, and mail it to theCounty Board of Elections 50 days prior to the Primary Election.
