HE'S GOD

Unison Scriptures
7:30 a.m.

Matthew 6:9-15 (NRSV)

Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us this day our daily bread. 12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. 14For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; 15but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
9

11:00 a.m. This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us today our daily bread. 12Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. 14For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
9 10

6:00 p.m.

Matthew 6:9-15 (The Message)

With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: Our Father in heaven, Reveal who you are. Set the world right; Do whats best as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. Youre in charge! You can do anything you want! Youre ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes. 14-15 In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You cant get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from Gods part.

UNISON SCRIPTURES

Matthew 6:9-15 (NIV)

Confession of Sins
Almighty and Most Merciful Father, we come before You, acknowledging our sins, our shortcomings, and our breaking of our Covenant with You. Not only have we done things we ought not to have done, said things we ought not to have said, left undone so many things we ought to have done and been silent when we should have witnessed for You. Not only are we guilty of that, O Lord; but we have also closed our eyes and pretended not to see the injustices, the racism and the evil which pervade our everyday lives. We have shut our ears and pretended not to hear the cries for liberation which come from the lips, lives and hearts of the oppressed even our own Black brothers and sisters! Forgive us, O Lord, renew our courage and faith, and keep us ever mindful of Thy great sacrifice. Hear us, we beseech Thee, as we come to You in love and worship giving Your Name the praise forevermore. ****** To All Our Visitors ... To all who mourn and need comforting ... To all who are friendless and want friendship ... To all who are oppressed and need liberation; and to whosoever will come, Trinity opens its doors. Thank you for coming, and may God bless you.

Stewardship Tithing Litany

Minister: Congregation: Minister: Congregation: Minister: Congregation: Minister: Congregation: Minister: Congregation: Minister: Congregation: Minister: Together: Tithing is the biblical principle of returning 10% to God first. The earth is the Lords, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. Debt is a spiritual issue. We are robbing Gods people when we live beyond our means, refuse to budget, invest, save, and tithe; we are seduced by debt. The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers. Tithing, budgeting, and stewardship are the solutions to the spiritual problem of debt. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. Debt is fed by the desire for immediate gratification, poor planning, and the need to keep up appearances. His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your masters happiness! Tithing, saving, budgeting, and good stewardship of resources is the calling of all Christians. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Debt slavery has been used since 1863 to prevent people of African descent from gaining power and independence. Share with the Lords people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Our ancestors were forced into slavery. Today, we volunteer to be enslaved by debt and we mortgage our childrens future. O God, we have been called to be a debt-free congregation. We are called to teach our community, children, and grandchildren the discipline of tithing, the power of budgeting, the blessing of saving, and the benefit of investing. We desire to live debt-free because it honors God and our ancestors, who died not for debt, but that we may live free with our God. Amen. STEWARDSHIP TITHING LITANY

Did you know you can save money and be Green, while staying warm in the chilly Chicago winter? It takes a lot of money and energy to keep a house comfortable during the winter months. Maximizing the efficiency of your heating systems can keep your costs low. For example, when used properly, a programmable thermostat can save up to $150 a year in costs. On the flip side, wide use of space heaters throughout your home will jack up your energy bills. In the winter, keep your thermostat to 68 in the day and 62 at night. If you leave home for more than 4 hours lower the thermostat 5-10 Only heat and cool rooms you use; close vents and doors to rooms that are not being used Switch the direction of your ceiling fan in the fall so the blades turn forward in a clockwise motion, to better circulate warm air Replace or clean your furnace filters once a month. 2012 Trinity UCC Theme Walking, Talking and Living Our Faith, Ephesians 4 (NLT)
January Ephesians 4:1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. February Ephesians 4:2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each others faults because of your love. March Ephesians 4:3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. April Ephesians 4:4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. May Ephesians 4:5-6 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all. June Ephesians 4:7 However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ. July Ephesians 4:11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. August Ephesians 4:12 Their responsibility is to equip Gods people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. September Ephesians 4:13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of Gods Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. October Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We wont be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. November Ephesians 4:15-16 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. December Ephesians 31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
