Disasters are catastrophicoccurrence that invariably have profound implication on public health causing injury,death greater risk as epidemics .Disaster causes great damage to the available infrastructure and there after thefurther development leading to considerable economic harm .Disaster occur suddenly & perhaps unexpected they occur any time any where in the part of the world ecfedlyHowever , some events developments gradually e.g. famines.The health care personal and acute care facility must be prepared for such eventsas it leads to mass casualty incident preparation for disaster and effective response canminimize the effects of events . The united nations declared the 19905 as the decade for national disaster reduction in order to combat the severity due to disaster .As part of theinternational decade for natural disaster reduction activities every year ,the secondWednesday of October has been designated world disaster as world disaster reductionDay.Disaster is a destructive events results in need for a wide range of emergencyresources to assist and ensure the survival of the disaster striker people .This chapter deals with types causes effects of disaster and management of disaster .
