RULES for the ANNUAL OZ-STRAVAGANZA! PARADESaturday, June 6, 2009, 2:00p.m.1. All entries must reflect the parade theme: “70 Yearsof Movie Magic: 100 Years Along The Road To Oz”. Theemphasis of this year’s parade can be exact or broad-based, depending on theme interpretation. The onlyexceptions to this rule are police vehicles, color guards,uniformed marching military units, and emergencyvehicles. THE PARADE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHTTO REJECT ANY PARADE ENTRY WHICH DOES NOT REFLECTAN OZ THEME.Applications must describe IN DETAIL how the paradetheme will be projected. As you plan your entry, pleasekeep in mind that the festival is directed toward familiesand reflects family values. THE PARADE COMMITTEERESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY PARADE APPLICATIONWHICH HAS NOT BEEN FILLED OUT IN DETAIL.Marching bands must be in their band uniforms or incostumes that reflect the festival theme. We ask eachunit to play live or taped music throughout the parade.2. All applications must be received on or before May 25,2009. Notice will be sent to confirm approval as soon aspossible in the form of an e-mail or telephone call; letterswith placement information will be sent the week prior tothe parade.

3. Because of traffic congestion anticipated in downtownChittenango, Genesee Street, which is the parade route,will be closed at 1:00 p.m. Please arrive early in theVillage. Parade lineup starts at Falls Blvd. and Genesee St.PARADE UNITS ARRIVING LATE MAY BE EXCLUDED FROMPARTICIPATION DUE TO ROADS BEING CLOSED. EXACTLINEUP INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE INCLUDED WITHPLACEMENT INFORMATION.4. Only vehicles and floats actually participating in theparade will be allowed in the staging area. All othervehicles must park in designated area. The onlyexception to non-parade vehicles in the staging area willbe school buses carrying band members and equipment.5. All animal units must provide their own cleanupbefore, during, and after the parade.6. ALL VEHICLE OPERATORS MUST HAVE A VALID MOTORVEHICLE OPERATOR’S LICENSE AND PROOF OF INSURANCE.7. Numbered placement signs will be found on markers instaging area. These signs must be prominently displayedon the front, left side of your unit for properidentification by the judges and any media coverage. Theparade committee’s decision on placement is final.8. Due to insurance regulations, NOTHING IS TO BETHROWN FROM ANY UNIT ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE.Those walking alongside the parade entry may hand outcandy and/or flyers. No articles or persons are to behanging over the sides of the floats or out windows fromenclosed vehicles.9. NO stopping by any unit is allowed along the paraderoute unless so directed by a parade marshal. Allperforming units must perform ON THE MOVE to preventthe parade from backing up.
