About Digital Photography School

Welcome to Digital Photography School - a website with simple tips to help digital camera owners get the most out of their cameras.

My name is Darren Rowse and I’m the guy behind Digital Photography Blog, a site dedicated to digital camera news and reviews. I’m a digital photography enthusiast and while it’s not how I make my living (although I do pick up a few paying jobs) - I’m the guy in my friendship group and family that always seems to photograph the special occasions. I’m still learning and improving my photography but like to share what I’ve learnt so far.

Over the two years of that site I had a lot of emails from readers asking for tips on how to use their cameras and came to the conclusion that while there are many millions of digital cameras being bought each year around the world that a very large proportion of those that buy them could be using them to achieve better results.

At Digital Photography Blog I’ve written a number of ‘tips’ articles over the past couple of years but it has largely been a site focussed upon cameras. As a result I wanted to start a site dedicated purely with ‘how to’ tips.

And Digital Photography School was born.

Some of you who are advanced digital camera users might find some of what is written on this site a little basic, but it’s the new to semi experienced digital camera owner that this site is aimed at. Having said this, even experienced users have already told me that reading the tips I’ve written have been helpful in refreshing their memories and reminding them of lessons once learned.

This ‘School’ is not a formal one by any means. There are no classes, no teachers, no exams - rather it’s a learning environment where I think out loud about what I know and where in our Forum we share what we’re learning by showing our photos and ask and answer each other questions. Also, unlike most schools, the information here is free. We do run limited advertising and affiliate programs to help us cover costs and keep expanding (read more about this on our disclaimer page) - however there is no cost to our readers.

As this is a regularly updated site the best way to use it will be to follow it over time. The best way to do this will be to use one of our Subscription Options.

I hope you enjoy Digital Photography School.
