Replacement of MRCS Parts 1 & 2 MCQ Exams with Part A MCQ Exam

Renaming of MRCS Part 3


Changes to time limits

Candidate Options

From January 2011

New Candidate (has never sat Part 1 or Part 2)

Must sit

Part A Unlimted atttempts available No time limit

From January 2011 Candidate has Failed Part 1 or Part 2

May sit either

Part 1 or Part 2 Resit (option available until April 2011)

Part A

After April 2011, candidate must move to

From January 2011 Candidate has Passed Part A

Candidate has Passed Part 1 and Part 2 but has not passed any component of Part 3

or

Must sit

Part B (Oral, Clinical and Communication Skills) Maximum of 6 attempts permitted

From January 2011

Candidate has Passed any component of Part 3

Must continue to sit

Part 3 (This exam will be available until December 2013. Candidates who have not completed all components by this date will become marked as Time-Expired.)
