Jann Blalock: Yes, Mr. Shuler.
34
Roger Shuler: Who’s this speaking?
56
Jann Blalock: This is Jann.
78
Roger Shuler: I called Tracy’s number.
910
Jann Blalock: I’m Tracy’s manager.
1112
Roger Shuler: Okay. So you’re telling me there’s no one with American
13
Express, no attorney or account executive or anyone I can
14
speak with?
1516
Jann Blalock: Sir, this is a law firm in Birmingham. They have hired us
17
to sue you here in Birmingham.
1819
Roger Shuler: I’m saying—who—who did you deal with?
2021
Jann Blalock: Who did I deal with?
2223
Roger Shuler: Who hired—from American Express, who hired Ingram
24
Associates?
2526
Jann Blalock: Hit CL over there Tracy. [Voice Overlap] Yeah. Okay,
27
American Express has turned this over actually to begin
28
with to one of the largest collection institutions in the
29
country which is NCO Attorney Network. They probably
30
contacted you. Were you contacted by NCO?
3132
Roger Shuler: I don’t have any idea.
3334
Jann Blalock: All right, they do make calls, probably if you had a
35
collection agency calling you or whatever, that’s who was
36
calling you with NCO. After they go through NCO, then it
37
comes to their attorneys which we are their attorney in the
38
state of Alabama. But as far as giving you a name and a
39
phone number, I’m not going to do that.

Roger Shuler: Okay, well fine. I’m just asking you if you’re going to—
1
just as a little customer service, you’re going to need some
2
work on that.
34
Jann Blalock: No sir, we don’t. Let me tell you how many times—let me
5
tell you our experience with your account, okay? The
6
account came in here just a matter of a few days ago and
7
it wasn’t that long ago. I mean, we’ve had it about a
8
week. I probably have 14 pages of notes on your account
9
right now at this time. Okay, the first time that I got
10
involved with it was last night when your wife went
11
absolutely hysterical. When she called in and said you
12
were cutting the grass, and we need to know what was
13
going to be done and said this that and the other. I
14
happened to be in Tracy’s office. And they were on the
15
phone. How long was that? Yeah, almost an hour, lacked
16
just a few minutes of being an hour last night and she was
17
just really, I mean, just beside herself.
1819
Roger Shuler: Well what do you [Voice Overlap].
2021
Jann Blalock: And I said [Voice Overlap].
2223
Roger Shuler: [Voice Overlap] said our house is going to be auctioned off
24
on the courthouse steps, do you think that’s not [Voice
25
Overlap].
2627
Jann Blalock: We didn’t say the house. We said the deed to your house
28
and that’s what happened with any judgment, Mr. Shuler.
29
I called UAB and left you a message myself last night.
30
And, you know, I could tell by the demeanor, the way you
31
handle the phone and everything, and I told Tracy, I said,
32
“Look when Mr. Shuler calls in, he is a businessman, he is
33
professional,” and I said, “I’m sure he knows how the law
34
works,” and when anything, anything that happens,
35
especially on a debt this size, what happens is that —that’s
36
what we do, okay?
3738
I don’t know what other attorneys do, but what we do
39
when any account comes in, we call, we make a courtesy
40
call and offer to do a settlement, okay? And if that
41
settlement is rejected, then of course—we’re not hired

really to make settlements, we’re hired to just immediately
1
sue. So, we go ahead and we, you know, we prosecute—
2
we take it to the court. It’s always ruled in our favor
3
because the debt’s due, you know, I mean, there’s not
4
much of anywhere around that. Now, once the judgment,
5
once anybody gets a judgment, then you attach assets
6
whether that be [Voice Overlap]. Your wife is not on this
7
note. So let’s say you work and your wife words, we
8
couldn’t garnish her wages, but we can yours. If you’re
9
name is on the bank account, we can take the money that
10
you put in your bank account.
1112
As far as your salary is concern, we get a 25% of what's
13
referred to as disposable income which is after taxes until
14
the debt is settled. If, as far as the deed on the
15
courthouse door steps, what happens on that is that,
16
there’s already by this point, I mean, we go to court and
17
there’s a judgment and that judgment is what any title
18
agency or title company looks for [Voice Over].
1920
Roger Shuler: I asked if there was somebody from American Express
21
that, you all evidently don’t care that people are victims of
22
crime, you’re just [Voice Overlap].
2324
Jann Blalock: You know, Mr. Shuler, I’m not going to sit here and listen
25
to you downgrade me, obviously, you don’t care. I mean,
26
you’re the one who keeps calling in here and preaching
27
scripture and verse. Okay, I told you that I would tell Ms.
28
Ingram what your comments were and what she does with
29
it from there. I’m just her manager. I have no control
30
over what she does. But I’ll assure you within, she is so
31
ethical that it’s unbelievable and whatever the bar requires
32
her to do, is exactly what she’ll do and dot every “I” and
33
cross every “T”.
3435
Roger Shuler: Well good, that’s what I want to hear.
3637
Jann Blalock: In the meantime, what she will probably do is go ahead
38
and sue you on behalf of her client. This was a courtesy
39
call. This is just strictly a courtesy call. That’s why Tracy
40
had indicated to me that she didn’t want to run this into,
41
you know, to walk it through on a fast suit because you
