Evenpink wristbands, pinkootball socks andpink soccer mouthguards.A bit overboard?No way.In October, the ‘power o pink’ pre-vails. The more pink, the better.And your community leaders agree.The North Shore has come togetherthis month, October 2012, to spreadthe ‘power o pink’ and support BreastCancer Awareness.Lawyers. Mayors. Bankers. Realtors.They did not hesitate when asked tosupport this important communitycampaign.“I am deeply committed to thecause,” said Beverly Shaer, a topplastic surgeon who devotes countlesshours healing and supporting breastcancer patients.“Thank you or including us,” saidMarcia MacClary o Footprint Power,the company that now owns the SalemPower Plant.District Attorney Jonathan Blodgettis a proud sponsor o this breast can-cer initiative. So are Coldwell Banker,North Shore Community College andthe YMCA o the North Shore.“All o us have lost riends and am-ily to this devastating disease,” saidsponsor Betsy Merry o Merry FoxRealty in Salem.Merry and partner Dan Fox wantedto specifcally pay tribute to KellyWyke, a mother, wie and riend.“She received theshocking news onher 35thbirthday that she had termi-nal breast cancer,” Merry explained.“Her beautiul spirit lives on in heramazing three daughters who wereall under 8 years old when she passedaway.”The acts are startling: Every twominutes, there is a new breast cancerdiagnosis. Every 14 minutes, a lie islost to the disease. More than 40,000people will die this year alone, and 400will be men.“We’re all touched by breast cancerin some way,” said Gayla Bartlett o Cranney Companies. “Friends, co-workers, mothers, sisters.
