Job Description Summary:
The Regional Communications and Marketing Officer is responsible for developing the region’s strategiccommunication plan and collaborating with staff to implement communications, marketing, social networking andmedia relations activities. This position serves on and collaborates with the regional development team to expandindividual and corporate donor support for all of North Dakota and Western Minnesota, and the two regions inSouth Dakota.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop the region’s strategic communication plan and collaborate with chapter executives and staff toimplement communications, marketing, social media and media relations activities, including:
Maintaining positive relationships with members of the media.
Acting as – or establishment of – on-the-record spokesperson or media representation.
Developing and distributing press materials, including press releases, talking points, op-eds, and lettersto the editor for local disasters, chapter events, and initiatives.
Serving as a liaison to National Red Cross communications in the region with distributing nationallydeveloped press materials to local media in order to raise local visibility for major initiatives planned andset out by the National Red Cross.
Driving earned media coverage for priority fundraising programs.
Maintaining regional website.
Developing a social media strategy and maintaining social media platforms consistent with the strategy,including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube
Proactively pitch positive media stories for the region.
Develop and maintain Disaster Public Affairs capacity within the region, including collaboration with Red Crosspersonnel on local and national disasters, training public affairs volunteers, and Disaster Public Affairsdeployment in the region.
Serve on a regional development team that is responsible for planning and executing fund developmentstrategies in order to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors.
Develop and support partnerships and activities within the corporate community leading to major donations.
Act as the primary liaison for customer donations programs and cause-related marketing.
Work with donor data to analyze, strategize, develop and implement effective communications and solicitations.
Support the cultivation and stewardship of individual major donors.
Use national Red Cross resources in the development of materials and publications that support regionaldevelopment strategies, solicitations and activities.
Assist in disaster fund raising, in support of local, regional and national campaigns.
Assist in planning, managing, and implementing fundraising events.
Bachelor’s degree in related field and relevant experience required.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Skill in planning, managing and implementing complex projects with attention to detail.
Proficiency with various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube.
Ability to work effectively as a strong team player in a fast paced, quickly changing environment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
