Work Group - Session 1 When: Monday, June 25, 2012 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. Central Standard Time Where: SDE - Hodge Building, Room 217 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
To all, After talking with Paul Risser, I want to connect with you ahead of tomorrows meeting of the P20 Data Coordinating Council about agenda items # VI and V, items related to some work that I am quite anxious to get started almost immediately. The urgency is due in part to the 90-day clock ticking on the requirement planning for the SLDS grant that SDE was recently awarded. Starting work on P20 governance and the workplan for the SLDS is critical in my opinion to the success of each project and of our P20 work more generally. I would like to ask that we schedule a meeting of the members of the P20 data governance committee (or designees) as outlined in our P20 data governance framework for Monday, June 25th from 9AM to 12PM at the State Department of Education. This would be a SLDS Grant & P20 Governance Work Group. I raise this ahead of our meeting tomorrow only to help scheduling/availability. As part of our discussion tomorrow, it is my hope that you will help me think through the steps we need to take next, and that the council bless the formation of the proposed SLDS Grant & P20 Governance Work Group: leads and/or staff from Career Tech, Higher Ed, the Employment Security Commission to join staff from SDE and OSF. The two primary deliverables from this SLDS Grant & P20 Governance Work Group would be 1. A workplan for the implementation of the $5 million SLDS grant to be administered by the SDE in partnership with OSF (per the terms of the RFA and Oklahomas application). a. The work group would bring the draft plan back to the Council ahead of our next meeting and the Federal deadline. 2. An RFP for a consultant to assist in the development and writing of the governance program/plan for SDE and P20. a. I have funds for SDEs governance needs and partial funds for the P20 work that I believe need to be tightly integrated (hence taking both on simultaneously). We can certainly discuss scope and funding tomorrow.

I apologize for bringing this up outside of the regular order, but hope that you understand/appreciate the urgency. For the members of the P20 data governance committee, please think about who you might send and their availability so that we can nail down the time and place tomorrow. If you have any questions or concerns prior to tomorrows council meeting, please let me know. Regards, JK John Kraman Executive Director, Student Information Oklahoma State Department of Education

Dear P-20 Data Coordinating Council Members, We have a full agenda for the meeting on Thursday, 2:00 PM, at the State Capitol in Room 511A. Much progress continues and we have more issues to address as we move closer to being able to fully implement a student longitudinal data system in Oklahoma. The agenda is attached. I look forward to our work on Thursday, and to seeing all of you. Thanks, Paul
