P1: Nobody is. Teacher: Id like to invite you to take a fantastic journey across one state of the USA. You will enjoy all the excitement this state has to offer. You will travel through its cities. You will discover the state called CALIFORNIA its people, history, cities, its Natural Wonders, Rivers and a lot more. If you are eager to make these discoveries, fasten your seat belts and we set out! P1: California is perhaps the most unique state in the USA. It became the 31 st state of the USA on the 9th of September in 1850. It is also called a Golden State. The state has beautiful features including an expansive central valley, tall mountains, hot deserts and hundred of miles of scenic coastline. California is the most populous state moir than 12 percent of U.S. citizens live in the state. California was settled by the the sword and the cross. It happened in 1769. In the 19th century people moved to California because of gold. The meaning of the word California in Spanish is a wide bay. The capital of the state is Sacramento. The largest cities are San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles. Teacher: Thank you, and now I offer you to travel to Sacramento. P 2: Sacramento is the capital of the state. The official name: the city of Sacramento. It has a nickname Big Tomato. Its total area is two hundred and fifty seven square kilometers. It has population four hundred seventy five thousand seven hundred and forty three people. The city was established in eighteen thirty nine due to the efforts of John Sutter, a Swiss immigrant, and James Marshal. Today Sacramento is a commercial and agricultural center. California State University is the major local university. Teacher: Thank you. We continue our trip and the second city is San Francisco. P3: San Francisco is a popular international tourist destination famous for its landmarks. San Francisco is surrounded on three sides by water. It is famous for its bridges, fog and foghorns. San Francisco has 40 hills and it is a wonderful city to explore on foot. The greatest attraction of San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge. It is its symbol. This beautiful orange suspension bridge, which opened in 1937, goes between San Francisco and Marin County to its north. The most densely populated of San Franciscos neighborhoods, Chinatown was founded in the 1880s when, the gold dug and the tracks laid. Chinese banded together to protect themselves in a small section of downtown area. When in San Francisco dont forget to visit California Academy of Science which contains a wonderful collection of art from Europe and Africa as well as Nelson Rockefellers American artists collection. Teacher: Perfectly. And now lets drop into San Diego. P4: The centerpiece of San Diegos redevelopment is Horton Plaza. It is an open-air, multi-leveled shopping center, with its pastel colors, oblique angels, glass, and steel. Another interesting place is Balboa park which was established in 1868. the park entertains the millions each year with its concerts, theatre and Spanish architecture. The San Diego Zoo deserves its reputation as one of the greatest in the world. One hundred acres of exquisitely designed natural habitats, re-creating such environments as a Southeast Asian rain forest and an African savannah, would impress almost everybody. Teacher: Of course, we continue our journey in one of the most famous cities in the world Los Angeles.

P5: Los Angeles is one of the world's centers of culture, technology, media, business, and international trade. Los Angeles leads the world in producing popular entertainment such as motion picture, television, and recorded music which forms the base of its international fame and global status. Downtown Los Angeles is a mixture of the best of the old and the most innovative of the new. Downtowns points of interest are very numerous. The Music Center is the cultural crown of Southern California. The Los Angeles Theatre Center is a showcase for the rich array of talent that this entertaining city produces in abundance. The Natural History Museum, the best-kept secret in town, has dinosaurs, gems and minerals, and exhibits designed to increase our understanding of ourselves Teacher: I also believe that we always connect Los Angeles with Hollywood. Am I right? P6: Yes, you are right. Hollywood was once all farmland. By 1910, however, filmmakers began moving there. Soon Hollywood came to mean the American film industry. Today, of the major studios, only Paramount is still in Hollywood. In Hollywood you can see two great theatres, where many movies premiered: Pantages Theatre and Manns Chinese. Manns Chinese is famous for its cement courtyard with footprints and handprints of stars. Teacher: Universal Studios, Disneyland have you ever heard these names? Im sure you have. What are these places, where are they situated? Lets learn about it. Misha, tell us about Universal Studios, please. Misha is sleeping. Teacher: Misha, we are waiting Misha is dreaming. (California dreaming and slides about Hollywood stars) Teacher: We finish our travel in Disneyland. Its a magic word Disneyland! P7: If you are tired of a noisy city of LA relax in Disneyland. Meet all favourite heroes. Meet Baloo, Louie, sail into a night of revelry with the Pirates of the Caribbean. Or travel back to the days of horse-drawn street cars and barbershop quarters with a trip down Main Street. Visit Adventureland and Indiana Jones Adventure takes you deep into the jungle. Discover a cargo of history on the rivers of America visiting Frontierland. Rabbit says everybody needs laughins place and Splash Mountain, inspired by Walt Disneys film, song of South, is the perfect one. Youll glide past hundreds of singing figures and dash over waterfalls and around curves. Dont miss the major attractions of Fantasyland: Sleeping Beauty Castle, Snow Whites Scary Adventures, Alice in Wonderland. Mickeys Toontown and Tomorrowland also wait for you. Disneyland is the park for all seasons all year long, it is the heart of fun in sunny Southern California. Teacher: Thank you children. Our journey is over. As you can see, California and its cities is something worth seeing and visiting. And believe me its not only the weather and climate. It is truly a place of adventure and fantasy, a sort of dreams come true. If you ever get a chance to visit this glorious city try not to miss it.

I love you, California, you're the greatest state of all, I love you in the winter, summer, spring and in the fall, I love your fertile valleys; your dear mountains I adore, I love your grand old ocean and I love your rugged shore.
