The Desperate Revival: The Black Knight

inochigake no fukkatsu: kuroe no kishi summary by Christopher See (Thank you!) edited by Sasami (Apology: Forgive me if some of the things in here are incorrect. My Japanese is only basic, so I have to make guesses at some of the things that happen.)

Characters
Conan (of course) Ran and Kogoro Mouri Ai Haibara Inspector Megure Heiji Hattori Sonoko Suzuki Dr. Araide, school doctor Mai Kougami, audience member Yumemi Noda, audience member Youta Mitani, audience member Kouhei Kamata, audience member Ayako Ninagawa, 3rd year student at Teitan High School AND... The Black Knight One dead, Kouhei Kamata, and according to Heiji, the killer is among his two friends, and an exgirlfriend, Ayako Ninagawa, who served the drinks. Apparently, the man was killed by poison that was put in his drink. It's suggested that it could have been the cream or sweetener he put in his drink, but the packages of cream and sweetener are then found in his pocket. It turns out that he was mistakenly given cola instead. It couldn't have been the cola, because two cups were labeled "Ice Coffee", and so he could have received either one. Kogoro proposes that he might have committed suicide, and so they go to his car to search for anything suspicious. During this interlude, The Black Knight looks out the window at the officers running in the rain to the car. And Conan watches The Black Knight. Heiji walks over to Conan, and starts to discuss the case, looking for input. Conan, though, is not interested, and brushes a puzzled Heiji away. Kazuha comments about Heiji and Conan's closeness, to which Ran only smiles. The officials return, having found a vial of poison in the dead man's car, and are about to declare it a suicide when a familiar voice asks them to wait. The all look up and see the Black Knight walking towards them. He explains that this is actually a murder, set up to look like a suicide, and there is a murderer in this room. And as he gets close, he stops, and removes his mask. It's Shinichi Kudo. Everyone gasps. Ran thinks "No! This can't be! Shinichi is..." and looks over her shoulder at Conan. Shinichi apologizes to Inspector Megure for being gone so long, and then approaches Ran and whispers to her, "I have a lot to talk to you about... later." Shinichi then goes over how the poison was hidden in the ice, and how the woman who bought the drinks put it in both cups. Her own drink didn't poison her because she, unlike the man, didn't eat the ice. Later, when the officers were searching the car, she dumped her drink outside, but Shinichi retrieved the ice cube. The guilty woman says "It's lucky for you that it was raining, or else the ice would have melted, and you wouldn't have caught me", but Shinichi points out that there was no way she could have known not to put her cream and sweetener into her drink, as by the time she

got back, it was dark, and she wouldn't have been able to tell that her drink was not ice coffee, but cola instead. She must have opened the drinks before, to put the poison in. Caught, she repents, and spends long amounts of time (as I am doing here now) talking about the murder case, when in fact all we are interested in hearing is how in the world can there be a Shinichi and a Conan existing at the same time. And as people are congratulating Shinichi on his return, he suddenly doubles over in pain. "Oh no! My body is returning! It's not permanent!" thinks Shinichi, and he flashes back to the hospital. There, in his hospital room, we see Conan and Ai talking. "The third choice", says Ai, "is to take this experimental drug. It's never been tested, and it will probably kill you, but if it succeeds then you will be Shinichi again. Is she worth the risk?" Back to the present, everyone gathers over Shinichi, writhing on the floor in agony, and slowly, he passes out. We see through his eyes as he wakes up. There, standing over him, are Ran, Kogoro and Heiji. He expects to be small again, when he notices that all his clothes still fit. He's still an adult. He's still Shinichi! The episode ends with him shouting for joy.

Conan (of course) Ran and Kogoro Mouri Dr. Agasa Ai Haibara The Detective Boys One Head Baddie and two henchmen. Ran and Kogoro Mouri (Briefly)

The episode begins with Ran telling Conan about a play she will soon star in, opposite a very attractive male lead (there's even a kiss scene). As Ran heads off to the shower, Conan smolders, and this does not go unnoticed by a slightly upset Ai. Scene change. Dr. Agasa has decided to take The Detective Boys, Conan and Ai (who still seems slightly upset at Conan) on a short camping trip. As they make camp, Conan and his school buddies go off to fetch firewood, while Ai and Dr. Agasa stay behind to begin making dinner. On their way back to their campsite, Conan and trio find a large cave, with an odd sign outside. Ever curious, the detective boys want to investigate, and after his protests are ignored, Conan follows to keep them out of trouble. Inside the cave, they hear the sound of people's voices, and without thinking, Genta rushes ahead to greet these fellow spelunkers. Unfortunately, he is greeted with the sight of three men in the process of disposing of a corpse. Not known for being stealthy, Genta is spotted, and a baddie fires his gun at the kids, now running for cover. They find a temporary hiding spot, and it's then that the detective boys notice. Conan's been shot. Still conscious, Conan pulls together the frightened children and tries to use his communicator to contact Ai. Unfortunately, Ai is out of earshot from her communicator, so the kids make a desperate charge for the exit, being followed by the baddies. When they come to a fork in the path, Conan (piggy backing on Genta) has an idea. The baddies soon arrive at the fork, and notice a light that's been dropped on one of the paths. The henchbaddies are about to go that way when the head baddies points it out as a deception, and they take the opposite path. Coming back to the kids, they question Conan if going down the same path as the light was a good idea. Going further down the path, they are suddenly attacked by bats. Realizing it's his communicator they're after, Conan dumps his into the corner and the bats fly away. They soon reach a branch where there are four exiting tunnels and a rock with a stone egg resting on it. There is a clue as to the exit, but just as Conan is realizing the answer, he passes out. The baddies are once again approaching, and without the help of Conan, the detective boys must figure out what to do to save all their lives... http://manga.gamestotal.com/en/read/Gakuen_Alice/66/26/21

The Desperate Revival: A Wounded Great Detective

inochigake no fukkatsu: fushoushita meitantei summary by Christopher See (Thank you!) edited by Sasami (SPOILER WARNING: Reading this series reveals the plots for some of the coolest episodes. I suggest waiting and watching them yourself, so read at your own risk.) (Apology: Forgive me if some of the things in here are incorrect. My Japanese is only basic, so I have to make guesses at some of the things that happen.)

Characters
Conan (of course) Ran and Kogoro Mouri Dr. Agasa Ai Haibara The Detective Boys One Head Baddie and two henchmen.

The baddies arrive at the intersection, and see the four different exits from this area. The head baddie chooses one, and along with a hench-baddie, goes down the path to search, leaving the second hench-baddie to stand watch at the intersection. The detective boys haven't actually gone anywhere. They are hiding in a small nook right beside the intersection, as they try to figure out with of the four paths will lead to the exit. It's obvious that time is running out, and that Conan is fading fast. Back at the camp, it is now getting dark, and Dr. Agasa and Ai start to get worried. For some reason, Ai doesn't use her communicator, but instead they go off searching for the kids, and find their bales of firewood by the cave entrance. Back at the cave, the baddies have come back from their search of one tunnel (which was a dead end) and begin the search of a next. The detective boys are wracking their brains for all they're worth when, finally, Mitsuhiko realizes the solution to the puzzle (it has something to do with shogi - Japanese Chess). Even so, they still have to get past the guard that is standing in way. Again, Mitsuhiko comes up as the hero, as he throws a communicator right at the guard's feet, sending all the bats flocking towards it. With the guard distracted, they make a mad dash for the exit. The head baddie returns from his search just in time to see the kids running off, and he chases in hot pursuit. The kids make it to the end of the tunnel, but not before the head baddie gets a hold of Conan and pulls him off Genta's back. The police are there, having been summoned by Dr. Agasa, and more police come from inside the cave, having capture the two hench-baddies. They order the head baddie to surRander, but the he takes Conan hostage instead. Luckily, at this point, Conan regains consciousness, and with his last bit of strength, fires a sleeping dart from his watch to disable the head baddie. Conan is rushed to the hospital, and there, waiting are Ran and Kogoro. Ai and the detective boys are there too, as Conan is rushed into the emergency room. The doctors say that they have a shortage of blood of Conan's type, and at this Ran without blinking, volunteers to donate her own blood (they being of the same blood-type). Unnoticed, Ai gives Ran a wicked stare. Conan wakes in his bed with Kogoro waiting. He learns of Ran's donation of blood, and how she stayed day and night by his bedside. That night, Conan ponders over what has happened, and thinks of Ran. Suddenly, his hospital room door opens, and he looks up to see a gun pointed at his head. The gun is being held by Ai...

AND... The Black Clothed Knight Conan sits in his hospital bed, looking at Ai who has a gun pointed to his head. Ai begins by asking him some questions. She asks him about girlfriends. He responds, "That would be Ran." At this, Ai pulls the trigger. Recovering from his wince, Conan looks up to see Ai taking the roses that popped out of the trick gun, and putting them into a vase. She explains that if he wants to be with Ran then he has three choices. The first choice is to stay hidden as Conan, and be with her as her "younger brother" for the rest of their lives. The second choice is to reveal his secret to Ran, and hope that she is alright with the huge age difference. The third choice is to... A couple days later, it is time for Ran's high school drama performance. Kogoro and Kazuha are there, along with Conan, now out of the hospital, but wearing a white facemask to cover his mouth. [Cultural note: In Japan, when people who are sick go out in public, they wear white facemasks so as not to spread germs to others] They sit themselves down, somewhere in the middle of the auditorium. Backstage, Ran is getting all prepared to begin, and is talking to the doctor, the male lead that will be playing the main part opposite her. She's nervous, but ready. Back to the audience, a woman returns from the drinks line to her two companions (one male, one female) with two ice coffees and a cola. She excuses herself to the washroom, and the other woman divvies up the drinks, one ice coffee to the man, the other to the other woman, and the cola to herself. The man opens the lid of his ice coffee, then shoots an evil stare at a girl serving drinks behind the counter. Just then, the play begins. Ran appears on stage in a flowing gown, and Kogoro goes wild cheering her on (and embarrassing both Conan and Kazuha). As the play moves on, Ran is attacked by bandits on the road (this time Kazuha going wild), but is saved by The Black Clothed Knight. Before Ran can begin her lines, the Knight holds her. She whispers, "Sensei, this wasn't in the script", when see notices that the sensei is actually standing off stage. She makes a face as to ask what is going on, but, she is urged to continue, and so says her lines thanking him for saving her. And as the two slowly move in for a kiss... A man screams, and dies on the floor. We see it's the man from the trio earlier, with blood running from his mouth. The police arrive, and the suspects are gathered. Inspector Megure starts to question them, when out of the blue, Shinichi Kudo appears! As everyone stares in amazement, Kazuha is not fooled. She asks him why he has so much makeup on, and run's a finger down "Shinichi"'s face to wipe some of it off. Heiji wipes the rest off to reveal his small joke, and life continues as before. As they are left with this murder to solve, Conan can't help but make looks at The Black Clothed Knight.

The Desperate Revival: Shinichi's Return

inochigake no fukkatsu: kaettekita Shinichi
A few days after the school play, Ran wait anxiously for Shinichi as Shinichi is getting ready for his return to school. Conan comes in and it turns out that Conan is really Ai. Ai is really upset that Shinichi revealed himself at the school play. If the Organization found out about Shinichi, it could mean big trouble not only for Shinichi, but for Ai, too. Not to mention the drug Shinichi took was still in it's experimental stage. On the way to school, it is apperant that Shinichi is still in his Conan mindset when he greets Mitsuhiko, Genta, and Ayumi like he always does. The three don't know who Shinichi is, they only know Conan. Another slip happens when he calls Ran, Ran-neechan, something that Conan uses to address Ran (cultural note: the 'neechan' used means 'older sister' and is used to refer to older girls

or young women like in Ran's case. It doesn't necessarily mean there's a blood relationship involved). Ran finds this extremely weird and tells him to wake up. At school, everyone is happy to see Shinichi and they greet him warmly. The guys rag on Shinichi being with Ran. Shinichi manages to whisper to Ran something about Beika City Building Rooftop Restaurant. In the building, Taiji Tatsumi is shot to death in the elevator by Satoru Ooba. Tatsumi's daughter, Sakurako Tatsumi, was being kissed by Ooba at the time when Ooba killed Tatsumi. He used a silencer on the gun and loud party noises helped to keep Sakurako from realizing what was happening. After Tatsumi is killed, Ooba gives Sakurako a pink pearl neckless to coincidentally match the pink pearl earrings she is wearing. The body is discovered, the police is called. A ruckus is made, and Shinichi hears this. It makes what Shinichi wants to tell Ran really hard because he wants to find out what is going on. Ran accepts that Shinichi wants to solve the crime and tells him to go. Shinichi goes off, telling her that he'll return soon. Megure remineses about how when he was younger, there was a murder and a young man appeared and solved the crime, much like Shinichi does then. Sakurako finds out that her dad was murdered and is shocked. Tatsumi's cuffs are undone, a regular theif looking for money wouldn't undo a person's cuffs. Murder for quick cash is ruled out. The police ask what time the party started, Sakurako tells them it started at 8:30. She knows this because she saw Ooba's watch when he touched her earring. Shinichi thinks this is odd, why would she know what time if Ooba used his left hand, wouldn't he touch her right ear instead of her left? Shinichi then suggests that there was something in Ooba's right hand preventing him from using his right hand. Ooba is suprised, he asks them if he is being accused of having a gun, and which Shinichi replies that no one mentions a gun. Sakurako is a bit upset over the fact that the police and Shinichi seem to be going after Ooba. At that time the gun is found in the trash chute and Megure asks if they can test Ooba for gun powder residue. Ooba consents and is taken away. Shinichi asks if Ooba and Sakurako were standing in front of the elevator when they kissed. Sakurako says yes, that her back was facing the elevator. Shinichi puts his arms around Sakurako and asks if he held her like so, and blushing, Sakurako replies yes. Shinichi thanks her and lets go. He also asks Sakurako if the earrings are from Ooba, too, which they aren't. Shinichi is now sure that the murderer is Satoru Ooba.

There is a little love triangle going on between the foursome; Ayumi likes Conan, but Mitsuhiko and Genta like Ayumi and, of course, Conan likes Ran. Seiyuu: Wataru Takagi, Ikue Ohtani, Yukiko Iwai

Ai Haibara(D) She is like Shinichi. Her real name is Shiho Miyano. She was the one who invented the drug that shrunk Shinichi and herself. Her codename was Sherry, but the death of her older sister made her turn away from the Underground Crime Ring. When the Underground decided to kill her, they handcuffed her to a pipe on the wall to await her execution. Since they were going to kill her, she took her own drug, intent on killing herself first. Instead, she was shrunk, and her hand was able to slip out of the handcuffs. Seiyuu: Megumi Hayashibara

Dr. Agasa (}m) Shinichi's neighbor and Conan's "distant relative". He invented the cool gadgets for Conan (i.e. power-up shoes, voice changing bowtie, stun gun wristwatch, etc...). Inspector Megure(x) He is the detective of the police force and relies on Shinichi to solve crimes. But with the disappearance of Shinichi, he comes to rely on Kogoro Mouri, whom he once thought was an idiotic detective. Seiyuu: Rin Chafuu
