• Keep candy away from pets.
Chocolate (especially dark or bakingchocolate), raisins, candy, and evenwrappers can be atal.
• Avoid dressing your pet in costumes,
which can be stressul or most

be sure the costume doesn’t restrictbreathing, movement, or vision.
• Keep carved pumpkins with candles

• Feed dogs before a Halloweenparty or trick-or-treating so they will
be less likely to beg or ood.
• Beware of streamers, plastic
spiders, ake cobwebs, glow sticks, and other decorations that could behazardous i swallowed.
• Secure wires and cords from
electric lights and decorations.
If chewed, your pet might suffercuts or burns, or receive a life-
threatening electrical shock.
• Keep pets indoors in a safe place tohide from loud trick-or-treaters. This
will also keep them sae rom thet
or inhumane practical jokes.• Always make sure your pet hasproper ID. If they escape, a collar
and tags and/or a microchip can be aliesaver, increasing the chances thathe or she will be returned to you.
If you do suspect your pet has
ingested something toxic, call your
vet or the ASPCA Animal PoisonControl Center at 888-426-4435.
