. 1939 ( World war II 1937-1945)
During the war the problem was: there was no way to
identify if the coming planes friendly or belongs to the
enemy

In 1939, The British developed an Identity System called

(IFF- Identify Friend or Foe) by putting a transmitter on
each British plane which sending a signal to Radar Station
on the ground to identify the British planes.
From 1950-1960, Many researches presented to study how we can use RFID in our life.
In Jan. 1973, Mario W. Cardullo received the first RFID Patent (US Patent 3,713,148)
Over time, RFID applications has increased to include many sectors around us.

1- RFID in Passports, National

ID card and Driver Licenses

The U.S. State Department started issuing RFIDchipped passports to the public on Aug. 14, 2006,

2- RFID in Driver licenses

New York State residents can now choose to carry a drivers license that comes embedded with an
RFID chip.

3- RFID in Sports
Attaching RFID
tag in each
runners shoes

1. Register race start and end time.

2. Tracking the runners.
3. Calculate the number of laps.

4- RFID for Car Parking

Operational method :
When car with RFID card enter or exit,
RFID Reader reads car data within 5~7m
and then open the gate without stopping.

RFID benefits in Parking

1. Manage enter and exit period.
2. Recharge card and automatically pay.
3. Parking management by car : Separately manage
vehicles between Transient parking
and Season parking

5- RFID for Animals

Why RFID in animals ?

These tags can be easily applied to the animal and Gates Reader and Handheld Reader can :
1. Manage their Entry and Exit to feeding centers.
2. Track animals and avoid violence.
3. Review animals Medical history.

6- RFID implantation in Human

Human implementation of RFID Tags dates back to at
least 1998, when Kevin Warwick, a professor from
England, implanted an RFID tag on his hand, which he
used to : control doors, lights, and computers around his
office.
In 2004, approximately 220 person in the United States,
and more than 2000 worldwide have implanted RFID
tags into their arms.

In March 2005
Amal Graafstra Implanted RFID Chip in his hand

When I open my front door, I don't search for a key,

When I log into my computer I don't touch my keyboard,
When I start my motorbike no key is needed.
Instead of keys I just wave my hand with RFID

7- RFID to trace kids in Parks

Wristbands RFID Tags for kids

Legoland Park in California launched a new

child-tracking system based on (RFID) to
allow parents to track the kids to within about
5 feet of their location if they become
separated

8- RFID in Hospitals
Wristband RFID Tags

1- Fast reviewing of patient medical history.

2- Track patient's location.
2- Track doctors and nurses' locations in the hospital.
3- Review and update patient information.

To hold information about new born babies.

To protect them form robbery accidents.

9-RFID to track prisoners/inmates

10-RFID in Pilgrimage / Hajj

1. Locate, Identify Pilgrims by wearing Wristband RFID Tags

2. Transfer data from tag to database.
