Identifying potential schools to approach for the project has proven to be challenging as there is no single

directory, especially of private schools. Some of the

methods we have used are: Government directories Just Dial & other web searches Personal Contacts Other Pratham Projects/Zonal Teams Collaboration with other organizations Walk-Ins Referrals from signed up schools

Timeline: 1-2 weeks Learnings

Collaboration with other NGOs is very helpful. The identification process must start before a location is chosen.

Existing ICT intervention

Once a potential school is identified, there are numerous factors that prevent inclusion in the project: Many schools use regional language as the medium of instruction. Since our content is currently in English, these schools are automatically excluded from the project. In some locations obtaining Government permission can take upto 6 months. Due to time constraints in the first phase of the project these schools were excluded. Some schools, particularly in urban areas, already utilize some form of ICT intervention within the classroom.

Content in regional language will be important. The government permission process should be acquired well in advance. Schools in Tier II cities and rural areas seem to have a greater need
