Catholic Charities USA Awards Centennial Medal to Feeding America

Charity Is Lauded for Its Vision of a Hunger-Free America
Alexandria, Va. Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), the 100-year-old social services organization committed to reducing poverty in America, presented its specially commissioned Centennial Medal to Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger-relief charity. "Through your efforts, millions of individuals are being fed each and every day," said Candy Hill, CCUSAs Senior Vice President for Social Policy and Government Affairs in presenting the medal. She praised Feeding America's work as "a testimony to your mission and vision for a hunger-free America" and said the Centennial Medal is "a tribute of our high regard for who you are as a visionary organization providing help and hope to millions of individuals." Feeding America's mission is to feed the nation's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage citizens in the fight to end hunger. It advocates for programs and solutions to help the food-insecure and for policies that raise public awareness about hunger in our country. The Centennial Medal, a symbol of Catholic Charities' first 100 years, recognizes the valuable contributions of individuals and organizations to the reduction of poverty in the United States and the work that Catholic Charities staff and volunteers perform every day in service to the least among us.
