The results of a recent survey of registered likely voters in Connecticut demonstrate that CongressmanChris Murphy now has a clear lead over Linda McMahon in the close race for U.S. Senate.
The survey, conducted October 22-24, demonstrates that Murphy currently has a 6-point lead over McMahon (47% to 41%).These results track closely with the most recent October 19-22 Quinnipiac Poll that shows Murphy with a6-point lead over McMahon (49% to 43%) – a 7-point swing from the October 4 Quinnipiac survey whichshowed McMahon with a 1 point lead over Murphy (48% to 47%).Murphy has a 68-point advantage over McMahon among Democrats (80% to 12%) and a 12-point leadamong women (51% to 39%).Consistent with the October 19-22 Quinnipiac Poll, the gap between the candidates among men hasnarrowed; Murphy now has a 1-point edge among men (44% to 43%). Those who saw the recent debates between Murphy and McMahon declare Murphy to be the clear winner (42% - Murphy did a better job vs. 33% - McMahon did a better job), including women (45% to33%), men (40% to 33%), and Independents (32% to 30%)
.Conclusion
Despite McMahon’s monetary advantage, Murphy has opened up a lead, gained ground among key demographicgroups, and is in a strong position as the race enters its final 13 days.
