is a senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center at GeorgeMason University. He currently serves as one of the two public trustees for theSocial Security and Medicare programs.From 2007 to 2009, Blahous served as deputy director of President Bush’s NationalEconomic Council. From 2001 to 2007, he served as a special assistant to the presi-dent for economic policy. He previously served as executive director of the 2001President’s Commission to Strengthen Social Security, as policy director for U.S.Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH), and legislative director for U.S. Senator Alan Simpson(R-WY).Blahous is the author of
