Part 1 - General Provisions
Article 1 - Purpose
The purpose of the National AAU Karate Program is to augment and define the InternationalKarate Sports Rules and to expand and make available the AAU Karate Program to men and women of all ages in the UnitedStates.
The mission of the National AAU Karate Program is to offer lifelong progression of amateur Budo based Karate-do forpersons of all ages, races and creeds; to enhance the physical, mental and moral development of amateur athletes; to providean avenue for competition on a local and national level and to provide the opportunity for AAU athletes to compete atGoodwill, Pan American, World Cup and World Championships; to integrate a curriculum that will encourage our athletes tochoose a drug-free lifestyle; to implement a ranking and certification program; to showcase AAU Karate champions,instructors, coaches, officials as role models; to utilize the relationship with Disney’s Wide World of Sports
Complex toboost AAU Karate as the premiere karate organization of the 21st century; and to promote good sportsmanship, goodcitizenship and safety. The National AAU Karate Program shall carry out its mission by:
Conducting programs that provide for, enhance and strengthen participation and competition for amateurathletes.
Working with other sports organizations to benefit amateur athletes.
Conducting recognition programs for athletes and to establish an AAU Karate Hall of Fame to recognizeoutstanding members who exhibit leadership, high moral character, sportsmanship and ideals of karate-do.
To provide information and education to AAU members through the publication of a quarterly newsletter anddistribute information through the Internet and through the use of our web site at
