Board of Education/School District Records and Documents

The Board of Education recognizes that an informed community is vital to the Colchester Public Schools. In accordance with the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Connecticut General Statute Section 1-200 et seq., members of the public are entitled to inspect public records and documents (except those exempt from public disclosure) promptly during regular business hours. Members of the public are also entitled to receive copies of such records promptly upon request. The FOIA provides that the Board may charge members of the public $.50 per page for such copies, and that the Board may require advance payment when such authorized charges exceed $10.00. In the interest of informing the community and promoting a better understanding of the operation of the Colchester Public Schools, The Board authorizes the Superintendent to provide public documents in response to FOIA requests free of charge for the first twenty-five single-sided pages per Colchester Public Schools fiscal year. Thereafter, the Superintendent is required to charge $.50 per page for such copies and to require advance payment for any charges exceeding $10.00, except as provided by statute.
